12/11/2020 3 Comments Cannabis Tours + Covid-19Covid-19 certainly has changed travel plans for many which has led to a overall shift in how consumers are traveling and ultimately effecting Cannabis Tours. So the million dollar question is "Should I go on a Cannabis Tour during Covid-19?"....Well we say "yes, with caution; If you are going to travel to a destination like LA or the Bay Area for your Cannabis Tour there are a few things we would like you to be aware of when you are traveling and it seems to be the standard of most Cannabis Tour Operators: 1. Wear a mask and wash your hands, this is the most basic rule related to the spread of Covid-19, Med Tours LA provides hand sanitizer, Lysol and Lysol wipes as well as temporary mask in the event that you forget or misplace yours. There are wipe downs after every stop and most tour operators are requiring that you keep a six ft distance which usually limits the amount of passengers a tour can carry (we are at 8 person capacity) 2. Travel with the Same Households, most covid-19 related restrictions are related to "households mixing" which can lead to the spread of the Covid-19, so Med Tours LA like most other cannabis tour operators are requiring all tours guest to come from the same households. 3. Be Patient, because of Covid-19 restrictions dispensaries are following state issued guidelines and limiting the number of customers that can enter at a time, so we are asking our visitors to bring their patience along with them as there will be waits. Pro Tip(s): Ask your tour operator if they can arrange pre-orders and have a delivery meet them at the meeting location the This is the time that we are currently Make sure your tour operator has the proper authority, license, and insurance coverage to operate. Med Tours LA is insured and licensed through the Californian Public Utilities commission you can look up your Tour Operator Here After a long day at work, smoking cannabis is proven to relieve stress and make you more relaxed. But make sure that you are practicing safe cannabis methods, especially if you are under stress. Whether it’s around friends or by yourself, your safety should be a top priority. Everyone wants to have a great time, make sure you do it safely.
Here at MedToursLA, we value safe cannabis practices for both our staff and customers. Our experienced and knowledgeable staff members are trained in practicing safe cannabis methods. Our drivers and tour guides will be completely sober during your tour, with your safety being our top priority. 1. Avoid Mixing Alcohol and Cannabis Too much of one thing can be harmful. This especially comes to smoking cannabis and mixing alcohol. Studies show that mixing alcohol and cannabis can intensify THC effects of resulting in a high that may be too strong. This can result in a “bad high” where your body can’t handle the amount of THC being given. On top of that, alcohol itself has its own effects on your body making you dizzier. This combination can be very dangerous and definitely does not follow safe cannabis smoking practices. Mixing alcohol and cannabis can result in:
2. Don’t Smoke Cannabis While Driving Driving under the influence does not mean just driving drunk. Avoid driving while high since cannabis can cause hallucinations and dizziness. This can heavily impair your ability to notice traffic, pedestrians, and your overall surroundings. Driving during the night can be fatal while high, since it is much harder to see signs of traffic. Being easily distracted or disoriented while driving should never be worth the risk. If you notice your driver being high, treat it like they’re texting on their phone. 3. Start Slow, Go Slow Another safe cannabis practice everyone should follow is to start smoking slowly and don’t rush into smoking a large amount. Smoking a large amount of cannabis in a short period of time can cause your body to react badly to the sudden amount of THC. This can result in sweating and nausea. Your body will most likely also be really relaxed to do anything. This can be dangerous since this can mean your body is starting to lose a sense of its muscles. When you do realize that you have smoked too much, make sure to rehydrate as much as possible. Trying eating something not too heavy to give your body the proper nutrients it needs to recover. You should also let your friends or people around you know that you’re not feeling too well and ask them to watch over you. Make sure you know your limit. Like any other substance, knowing how to control yourself is important. 4. Get Your Cannabis Safely Make sure you get your cannabis from safe and qualified dispensaries. Our partners at MedToursLA are notable and authentic dispensaries to make sure all the products you buy and use are safe. You never want to play around with getting cannabis from a random person on the streets. The product being given to you can be laced with all sorts of dangerous things, especially when someone says it's a “new kind” of cannabis. Don’t risk your life just because a person offers you a creative type of high. 4. Avoid Becoming Dependent on Cannabis Unless it’s a medical reason, you shouldn't depend on cannabis every single time you feel stressed. There is a difference when smoking cannabis socially, and when you smoke cannabis addictively. Safe cannabis consumption practices mean that you are not reliant on it every single day. If you are smoking cannabis every day and notice that you can’t stop, make sure you seek medical attention. Cannabis addiction is a real situation and you shouldn’t be ashamed to seek help when your mental health is at risk. Signs of cannabis addiction can be:
Practicing safe cannabis smoking methods is important. Make sure that you know your limit and not be dependent on it. Having a bad high can ruin your night and can put others in danger. Hopefully you have a better understanding of safe cannabis practices after reading this article. It can be daunting trying to find the best cannabis tour service, especially since there can be so many companies to choose from. Here are factors you should look into when picking the right cannabis tour experience for you! Are the tour guides knowledgeable? One of the main reasons you are interested in going on a cannabis tour experience in Los Angeles is to learn something about the city. Make sure to find a tour guide that not only knows the historical past of Los Angeles but also how cannabis connects to it. A great tour guide makes the experience so much more memorable. At the same time, you want a tour guide that engages with you and can make you laugh from time to time. For tourists visiting the city, a tour guide should effectively answer all your questions. No one likes a boring atmosphere, especially on a cannabis tour. Does it provide a fun atmosphere? The best cannabis tours start right when you step on the bus. Tour buses can be tricked out in custom LED lights, high-quality speakers, and comfortable seats. Since you’ll spend the most time sitting down, it’s pretty clear to say that the quality of the bus itself can make or break how fun your cannabis tour will be. Being around other fun people can definitely help to make the bus ride even more impactful. The type of music being played should be upbeat and make you want to have a great time. What type of experience/services are you looking for? Some cannabis tours offer different types of experiences and services! Are you looking for more of a historical tour? A behind-the-scenes route? A summer vibe? You should decide this before making a decision about which cannabis tour you want to go with. People new to Los Angeles should probably choose a more historical tour to learn about the landmarks of the city. This can include trips to Downtown LA, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Beverly Hills, or Santa Monica Beach! Locals, on the other hand, can benefit from taking a behind-the-scenes tour to learn about how local dispensaries get their product. Some cannabis tours have their own line of products that can be directly bought on the bus. There are also opportunities to get cannabis products at the many dispensaries the tour will stop at. Whatever you decide to choose, having more options is always better. What landmarks are they stopping at? Have you taken a tour only to find out that they didn’t go to a landmark you wanted? These are factors you have to take into consideration when booking a cannabis experience in Los Angeles. Different cannabis themes can result in different landmarks being visited. Our Signature South Central Tour stops in landmarks within South Central LA. Fans of Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, NWA, and soul food should definitely book this tour. If you are unsure about the landmarks of a certain cannabis tour experience, make sure to contact them directly. What is their safety record? Safety should be a top priority when taking any type of tour bus. Make sure to go to a reputable tour company that has passed all their safety checks. This includes having drivers that follow the law and know how to operate the vehicle. Driving under the influence, including being high, is dangerous. Look into the precautions the tour bus company takes to ensure the safety of its passengers. What are the reviews? Looking into the experiences and reviews of past customers can give you a glimpse of the tour is worth your money. Don’t go to a heavily reviewed 2-star cannabis tour experience in Los Angeles expecting 5-star service. Testimonials from customers can give you the information you need about the level of customer service and value the tour has as a whole. Conclusion Finding the best cannabis tour experience in Los Angeles doesn’t have to be that hard. Make sure you do your research and look into what gives you the most value. Most importantly, have a great time! You have been on a flight for hours to LAX for your vacation, event or conference, check in to your hotel and you finally have time to relax. You heard that Recreational Cannabis became legal in Los Angeles and you are ready for your first visit to some of these Cannabis Dispensaries that you have heard about. Where do you start? Research One of the first things that you can do is research your local area and see if there are any legit Cannabis Dispensaries in your immediate area or even delivery perhaps. Mobile apps Yelp , Weedmaps , and Leafly can help in seeing the menu, pictures of the facility and some customer feedback (some words of caution, some reviews are conditional meaning that they were incentivized to do the review) so take it with a grain of salt. Looking at the menu of the Cannabis Dispensaries and getting a general idea of pricing is how the above mentioned apps work the best. Instagram and other social media can help as well, however whatever city you are in including LA our best advice is ask an Cannabis expert or take a Cannabis Experience Tour, for several reasons, for one you have experts who are willing to take you to where the best Medical and Recreational Cannabis is with discounts and other perks. The Visit Once you have figured out where you would like to purchase your Recreational or Medical Cannabis you need to make sure you are prepared, because sometimes the first visit can be overwhelming. Get Cash, most dispensaries are operating under state laws and are patiently waiting for the Federal Government to give them the "green light" allowing more banking opportunities, however until then most Cannabis Dispensaries take cash only, however there are ATMs in most ($3 charges on average). Current State Issued ID Card, you will need to bring a current State Issued ID card or Passport (21+ for recreational), if you are under the age of 18 you will need to get your Doctors Recommendation Card (If visiting LA, here is a losangeles420evaluations.com/). You will present your ID to the person usually behind the glass and wait until the security guard calls you back. You cannot consume of the premises (although some will allow, you have to do the research) so do not do it or you can be banned (shameless plug, you can consume on our 420 friendly bus). Budtenders, this is the equivalent to a Bartender at a Bar or a Barista at your favorite coffee shop and they can make or break your experience as they should know about the Cannabis including asking you what effects your are looking for, or what are Terpenes? Genrally the budtenders are very attractive females, some with personalities and some who can actually guide you to a wonderful Cannabis Experience, so make sure your take your time and get with the right one, if they appear to be rushed or not attentive, ask for someone else. Consumption There are several ways to consume cannabis and each have their own benefits and depending on your tolerance some methods might work better for you. First off if you have never consumed cannabis or it has been quite some time since your last joint, take baby steps because this is not your momma's cannabis. Pre-Rolls are cannabis "cigarettes" usually rolled by the dispensary or cannabis brands, some are stronger than others so make sure you look at potency and type (Indica, Sativa, or Hybrid) and only take a couple of tokes in the beginning and pace yourself. Indicas will usually leave you a little "couch locked" or stuck so generally people usually use Indica at night to help with sleep. If you are looking for more of a daytime cannabis, try Sativa which is known for being uplifting and sometime increase your creativity; If you are looking for a combination of both, then Hybrids might be the best bet, some industry experts state that most of all cannabis being currently distributed are some form of a Hybrid cannabis strain. Flowers can be purchased by the gram, 8th (3.5 grams) price range $30-60, Quarter( 7 grams) $60-$120, Half Ounce (14 grams) $120-$240 and Ounce(28 grams) and with the recent laws, several are pre-packaged (however most have samples to smell) which depending on the date of packaging can be somewhat dry so always ask your Budtender "Whats fresh?". Concentrates are the result of the extraction of chemical THC from the plant (If you would like to see the THC extraction process click here) and are not for newbies because of the high potency and we would recommend building up your tolerance prior to trying concentrates, if you are feeling brave please consult your Budtender. Edibles are a favorite way to consume cannabis without exposing your lungs to the potential harm that smoking anything can do. Edibles are eaten and based on most recent California Law can be consumed in 10 mg doses and a maximum of 100 mgs per pack (10 doses per package) which can be very strong to those who have never eaten a cannabis edible. There are consumption guides that can help you with dosage, however would recommend starting off very small and slow, as edibles are digested and can take some time to take affect, so be patient if you do not feel anything wait about an half an hour to an hour to see how you are feeling. Tinctures and Topical (Lotions, Oils, and more) and are also becoming a more popular way to consume cannabis taking advantage of the health benefits (CBDs, THC-A, ETC). Traveling If you are traveling in a vehicle it is illegal to consume cannabis, however it is perfectly legal on our 420 friendly cannabis bus (shameless plug lol) so please wait until you are at a safe consumption location (Home, Cannabis Bus, or Cannabis Lounge) before medicating. If you are traveling by plane we would recommend looking at the local laws of the place you are traveling to for laws and rules around cannabis transporting. In 2018 LAX released news stating that TSA they were no longer enforcing federal cannabis laws at LAX and it would be up to local law enforcement to intervene and LAPD said they were "not really" interested in participating in the enforcement. I have heard several people tell me that they have traveled with an once, however we are not suggesting that. If you are going to travel with it, DON'T BE GREEDY, that is how you get caught up. Repackage your edibles so that are not as obvious and put away you meds in something that does not look so obvious. In my recent travels to Seattle,WA (another great place for Cannabis) I traveled and check a bag with pre-rolled blunts and had no issue, Seattle is also a cannabis friendly state so make sure you do your research. Bottom line is do your research when you get to LA, because there are several illegal dispensaries operating which means that thier information is not validated or approved by any governing body, so anything goes. You want your first cannabis experience to be an amazing one so make sure you do your research or save yourself the hassle and Book a Tour! 12/30/2018 9 Comments The LA Cannabis Scene I have been consuming cannabis for most of my life, however once I moved to Los Angeles over 10 year ago I think I tumbled into the mecca of Cannabis. In 1996 California and Los Angeles residents passed Prop 215 (Read more here) which allowed certain medically qualified residents to legally purchase or donate for medical cannabis up to a certain amount without the fear of arrest and/or prosecution. Fast forward over 20 years later in 2017 California residents passed Prop 64 (read more here) which allowed for adult 21+ recreational purchases and usage (even though you cannot consume in public and in hotels, but you can on our tour). Cannabis has always been a "Hush" type of community and with prop 64 being passed it has opened the door for corporate opportunity, but also massive regulation which has added a very aggressive sales tax and quite a few cities and counties saying "No" to cannabis . Los Angeles is one of the cities in the Greater Los Angeles Area to say "Yes" to Cannabis Here is a list of other cities. Here is my experience over the last year as it has been great and interesting: The Dispensaries There are different dispensaries and what I have found is that the area and/or neighborhood you are in will generally dictate your experience so choose wisely. For example the Valley usually has the best prices and some pretty decent cannabis and there are several options which usually benefits the customer, prior to Prop 64 you can get an eighth of some premium for $30, some of that still applies for medical patients (If you need a rDr. recommendation please click here). South LA, East LA and Korea Town usually will have the cheapest options because of cheaper rent and more competition.West Hollywood, Venice Marina Del Rey and will generally be more expensive because of their locations. Now you can enter a dispensary with either you state issued ID which will get you recreational prices and a different tax rate. There are some major players in the Cannabis game like Jungle Boys who have very exclusive and exotic strains, and have (2) locations and several options like a live press so that you can make your own sauce. There can be a long wait at times (at Original Location) , but they also have a expedited line if you already know what you want. Another major player in the Los Angeles is MedMen who has (6) Los Angeles area dispensaries and (1) in Orange County. This is a very "State of the Art" dispensary resembling an Apple store, a very helpful staff and several options available. Please know there are several others that we love and some that we have not visited just yet. So please comeback for more as we will review more. Events One of the best kept secrets of Cannabis in LA is the events, which are happening daily. Sessions or "Sesh" for short are private meetings and or get together that "medical" patients are invited to attend. These events allow you to purchase medical cannabis from vendors directly which is usually way cheaper then the dispensaries. Sesh's are invite only and you will need your Dr.'s recommendation with you. Instagram is a great place to look for sessions and get invloved, just search "Sesh" under people and there you go...One other option is attend events put on by Grass Fed LA Events who puts on monthly events throughout the city which include education, dining, and more. I attended an event that was all about Terpene profiles of cannabis, it was amazing and hosted by Kristen Yoder of Soil to the Oil (someone you really should follow plus she has an amazing podcast click here to listen) . Eventbrite sometimes will offer tickets to events usually more on the business side of cannabis, but a valuable resource nonetheless. Parting words Just do your research and be willing to listen to the locals as they can save you time and money as LA is a very large market and everything is not as advertised and there is a lot of "bammer" and "overpriced" cannabis out there. Book a tour save yourself the hassle. Stay tuned for more updates |
